The Good Brothers Confirm Their IMPACT Future

By John Cunningham. Published 25th July 2022.
The Good Brothers

With rumours circulating of contract expiries this month, some light has finally been shed on Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows’ immediate future in IMPACT.

After leaving WWE in 2020, the long-time Bullet Club henchmen made their way over to IMPACT Wrestling and have consistently been pushed as one of the promotion’s top tag teams ever since.

In that time, they have also made appearances in AEW, normally alongside then-AEW World Champion, and former Bullet Club teammate, Kenny Omega. The Good Brothers even appeared with their IMPACT Tag Team Championships in hand.

According to Fightful Select, their current contracts with IMPACT, which were set to expire on July 17, have seemingly been extended through the rest of the summer. From there, it remains unclear for now where the pair might go.

Rumours abound that many promotions are interested in working with them.

While a return to AEW now that Omega’s rumoured to be returning soon seems plausible, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them join the gradually re-growing ROH either. Feuds with the Briscoe Brothers and current champs FTR would likely be hits with fans.

The duo reportedly have more dates with New Japan lined up as well.

The NJPW news comes as no surprise following Karl Anderson’s NEVER Openweight Championship victory over Tama Tonga at this year’s Dominion event. After a six-year absence from the promotion, the win secured ‘Machine Gun’s first ever singles belt in New Japan.

The New Japan Dojo graduate was a popular foreign act with Japanese audiences prior to his 2013 heel turn and Bullet Club induction. After a humorous heel run in the promotion, he jumped ship with Gallows to WWE in 2016.

In 2022, there’s been a noticeable effort in NJPW to re-establish the dominance of the Bullet Club in the promotion. After a lengthy stay in New Japan USA, stable leader Jay White claimed the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Dominion.

The faction have also noticeably distanced themselves from the much-maligned House of Torture off-shoot. With the return of Anderson and Gallows to the faction, it appears a return to the traditional, nWo-style status quo is in full effect.
