With The Undertaker now retired, it seems that Goldberg is taking his shot at being WWE’s new ‘reaper of wayward souls.’
Despite having nearly a week to come to terms with the events which unfolded at SummerSlam, the WCW legend is still far from alright with what transpired.
At the summer spectacular Goldberg came up short in his efforts to win the WWE Championship from Bobby Lashley. In the end, the referee stopped the match after Goldberg was left in no position to continue after a sustained attack on his knee. After the match, Goldberg’s son Gage jumped in the ring only to be mistakenly (According to MVP) put in the Hurt Lock. It was a move which left the WWE Hall of Famer incensed and looking for revenge.
In a WWE Digital exclusive, Goldberg confirmed that he was heading for knee surgery after sustaining ligament damage. While the former World Champion said that he didn’t care about the surgery, he does care about Bobby Lashley and what he did to his son. Promising that when he returns, he’s not coming for the WWE Title, he’s coming for Lashley’s soul.
“What I do care about is that dirty son of a b*tch, Bobby Lashley, and what he did to my son at SummerSlam. I just left the house. Gage, his shoulder’s all jacked up. His neck hurts. God knows what a dude that size could have done to my son. So, the objective has changed. I’m not coming for the WWE Championship. I’m coming for Bobby Lashley’s soul, and I will rip it straight from his chest.”
Speaking in the aftermath of the SummerSlam clash, Goldberg said that he was “dazed and confused, and left continually limping.”
To date there has been no official word on when Goldberg might return to WWE, although it’s been suggested that he could face Lashley one more time at Crown Jewel in October.
Whatever the time frame, it appears that Goldberg’s feud with Bobby Lashley is far from over.
