Right now, you’d be hard-pushed to say all signs aren’t pointing to a Roman Reigns vs Goldberg match at least at some point in the not-too-distant future.
Earlier this week, Goldberg called out the Tribal Chief on WWE’s The Bump, calling Reigns’ Spear “subpar” and saying, “Roman’s next.” Shortly thereafter, the WWE Universal Champion would respond, saying, “I choose who’s next.”
Whether the match happens or not is, thus far, unconfirmed – but WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has revealed why he believes the match “needs to happen” – elaborating that it should have happened a decade ago.
Speaking with Graham “GSM” Matthews of Bleacher Report, Goldberg said:
“If the Roman Reigns match isn’t the match at the top of my priority list, then I wouldn’t be Goldberg. That’s a match that needs to happen. It’s a match that’s needed to happen for a very long period of time. I wish I would’ve been able to have that match ten years ago.”
The two-time WWE Universal Champion, though, did talk down speculation of the match, but said he could be a “very formidable opponent” for Roman Reigns.
“People in hell want ice water, too. You can’t have everything the way you want it, but I think I can still be a very formidable opponent for him. Georgia will always be better than Georgia Tech at the end of the day, anyway.”
