Goldberg Is Furious After Final WWE Run: “They Wouldn’t Do That To Taker”

Why Did Goldberg Once Headbutt A Wall? WWE Hall Of Famer Asked

WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has officially retired, and he does not appear to be pleased.

Last week, on July 12, at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Atlanta, Georgia, Goldberg wrestled his final pro-wrestling match. The 58-year-old veteran clashed against Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship but suffered a loss, and eventually hung up his boots.

Curiously, the NBC television special’s live feed was unexpectedly cut short near the match’s conclusive moments, showing Goldberg’s loss before immediately transitioning to a commercial. While it soon returned, the former Universal Champion’s retirement speech was again interrupted and cut short before the feed went off-air.

Recently appearing on The Ariel Helwani Show, Goldberg shared his honest thoughts on the incident with Helwani. Fuming at what happened, the former champion also compared his retirement run with John Cena and The Undertaker.

I’m not saying it [cutting speech off] was done on purpose by any stretch of the imagination. I’m saying it wasn’t prepared for on purpose. They wouldn’t do that to ‘Taker, right? I don’t think. They’re not gonna do that to Cena. Cena’s going around the world doing his retirement thing. Mine was just a World Heavyweight Championship Match. —I had World Heavyweight [Championship] Matches all the time. That doesn’t do anything for me. I mean, it does, but make it different than just an angle, at least. At the end, do something. Say something. I don’t know. It just felt a little ‘eh’ for me, that’s all.”

Nearing 60, the Hall of Famer is not expected to return to in-ring action anytime soon. However, he also recently put a halt to his son Gage’s WWE situation.

Goldberg Reveals Surprising WWE NDA Situation

During his appearance on the same episode of The Ariel Helwani Show, Goldberg revealed a surprising non-disclosure agreement (NDA) situation with WWE following his Saturday Night’s Main Event match:

But that was fun, man. There was a moment in that match where I actually enjoyed myself, and I can’t say that I’ve done that very many times, so for that, and a plethora of other little reasons, I think I had a good time Saturday night, and I’m not even sore, man. My hand is the only thing that hurts a little bit. [Helwani: is it broken?] Who knows? I don’t know. I don’t know what happened… maybe when I went through the barrier or something. Who knows? One of those injuries I’m going to tape an aspirin on it, and it’ll feel better.

I’ve got two more weeks…yeah, let’s just say that [there is an NDA].”
