Giulia Reveals How WWE Is Different From Japanese Wrestling: “I’m Still Learning”

Giulia has opened up on the difference between WWE and Japanese wrestling.

Following an extremely successful career in Japan, fans witnessed Giulia make the move to join World Wrestling Entertainment last year. A regular part of the Friday-night SmackDown roster, the 31-year-old recently appeared on a media junket (quotes via Tokyo Sports), and discussed her jump from Japan to NXT.

“NXT is like professional wrestling designed to keep viewers from changing the channel, with moves coming one after another without any pauses. On the other hand, SmackDown is slower-paced. When I was competing in Japan, I preferred to take my time during matches, but here the timing is different, and I’m still learning. Watching the top wrestlers’ matches, they command the ring with their aura. I want to become someone who can overwhelm others with my aura someday.”

She further said,

“In Japan, it’s not uncommon for the losing fighter to shine more. But what Asuka taught me was, ‘In the U.S., all the spotlight goes to the winner. There’s a world of difference between winning and losing.’ That’s how tough the environment is. Because of Asuka, the path to WWE women’s wrestling was opened up, and somehow it’s connected to where I am now. So, fighting Asuka is one of my goals and dreams. I’m really happy she returned, and I hope to face her soon.”

As the current Women’s United States Champion, she is now also scheduled to be a part of the Battle Royal match on July 13th during the Evolution 2 PLE.

This AEW Star Was All Praise For Giulia Following Her WWE Debut

Last year, after Giulia’s debut at NXT No Mercy, current AEW star Thunder Rosa and ex-WWE star Nic Nemeth opened up on their honest thoughts on the former NXT Women’s Champion.

Thunder Rosa: “It was a great introduction of Giulia, most definitely,” Rosa added. “Also, it’s very important that we understand that one of the reasons why Chelsea, not because she’s probably one of the most entertaining individuals in WWE at the moment, she was in Stardom before in 2016. So, she knows the strong style. She knows how to work that style, too, [and] that even adds more to this…And I love those little subtle things that she does…I love the fact that Chelsea can be Chelsea; even in a loss, she is over.”
