Gangrel Set To Train AEW’s Paige VanZant

Paige VanZant

Fresh off her official AEW signing, Paige VanZant is due to receive training from ex-WWE Superstar, Gangrel.

First appearing on All Elite Wrestling programming in autumn 2021, Paige VanZant officially signed her AEW contract on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite, doing so while leaning it on the helpless body of Tay Conti. VanZant is presumed to be battling the former NXT Superstar in her debut match, though a date – and formal confirmation – hasn’t yet been revealed.

In an update, it’s being reported that VanZant won’t actually train under AEW talent, but rather with WWE Attitude Era icon, Gangrel. ESPN Combat Sports Reporter Marc Raimondi said as such on Twitter the day after her release, noting that Paige VanZant will train under ‘The Vampire Warrior’ at the Pompano Beach, California-based Coastal Championship Wrestling:

Following up on his initial tweet, Raimondi noted that, per Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship spokesperson Bernie Bahrmasel, both AEW and BKFC “will work together to build her career“. Despite signing with the Tony Khan-helmed promotion, Paige VanZant remains signed to BKFC, too. She had previously signed a four-bout contract worth over one million dollars.

Only two of those fights have been fought so far, both of which were losses. VanZant was first defeated by Britain Hart in February 2021, before then losing to Rachael Ostovich later that July. These both ended via unanimous decision after all five rounds had been contested.

It’s unknown when, exactly, Paige VanZant will make her in-ring debut, though you’d expect AEW to make a big deal out of her eventual showdown with Tay Conti. Presumably, this will go down on one of AEW’s main pay-per-view broadcasts.
