Gable Steveson Made Surprise Non-Televised Appearance At WWE Raw

Gable Steveson made an appearance at WWE Raw in a non-televised segment.

Olympic gold medallist Gable Steveson made his in-ring debut at the NXT Great American Bash. However, it was a recent incident at Monday Night Raw that caught the attention of fans. Steveson, who competed against Baron Corbin at the Bash, found himself facing the former world champion Dolph Ziggler.

In a surprising turn of events, Gable Steveson was met with heavy boos from the crowd in Texas at NXT Great American Bash, who instead chose to cheer on Baron Corbin. The match ended in a double count-out, leaving fans dissatisfied with the result. However, the reaction Steveson received in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, was a completely different story.

During a segment that did not air on television, Steveson engaged in a heated confrontation with Dolph Ziggler. Being cheered like crazy by the Minneapolis crowd, Steveson showcased his strength by suplexing Ziggler around the ring. This unexpected moment reportedly garnered one of the biggest pops of the entire show.

Dave Meltzer spoke on Wrestling Observer Radio about the segment:

So he was on the show tonight, he was not on television, but he did a big angle with Dolph Ziggler and because it was Minneapolis and he is from Minneapolis, he was cheered like crazy, I heard it was one of the biggest pops of the entire show and suplexed him around the ring when Ziggler was running down, basically saying that there are no wrestling heroes in Minneapolis.

Is Gable Steveson Going To Compete At The Olympics?

While Steveson’s WWE future remains uncertain, with rumours of him still wanting to pursue amateur wrestling and potentially compete in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, his recent appearances on WWE programming indicate a ramping up of his professional wrestling career.

Although Steveson has competed in some amateur tournaments with WWE’s blessing it remains to be seen whether he will commit full-time to WWE or leave to pursue another gold medal.
