WWE have announced the signing of Olympic Gold Medallist Gable Steveson.
A statement from WWE said that Steveson had signed an “exclusive agreement” and the company’s first-ever NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) deal to join their roster while also defending his NCAA crown with the University of Minnesota.
Steveson took to social media to confirm the news, writing that he had accomplished his childhood dream, before thanking WWE for the opportunity.
The confirmation comes after Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that a deal had been done on September 4th.

After winning Olympic Gold in Tokyo, Steveson became one of the most sought-after combat athletes in the world. With Steveson already an NCAA Champion, Danny Hodge Trophy winner and junior World Champion, his resume attracted a sting of suiters.
Gable Steveson has become the second member of his family to sign with WWE in a matter of weeks. It was recently confirmed that his brother Bobby, signed a deal with WWE alongside five other recruits.
WWE held an interest in securing the signature of the Indiana native long before he starred at the Olympic Games. Speaking in April, Triple H confirmed that WWE were fans of the star. While for his part, Steveson sent a message to Vince McMahon on social media after his Olympic triumph.
Steveson had earlier been shown in the crowd at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, while he was recently presented to fans at SummerSlam, Gold Medal in hand.
