More insight has been given into Jade Cargill’sWWE absence as the uncertainty surrounding her hiatus continues.
On November 22nd, Cargill was attacked backstage by a mystery assailant. Following the attack, WWE provided a storyline update and listed a litany of injuries the Women’s Tag Team Champion sustained due to the attack.
In the days that followed, more confusion developed in terms of how legitimate Cargill’s injury was. Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer stated that Cargill was legitimately injured and would be out of action for months. However, according to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Cargill is not injured at all and the attack was strictly storyline. In a further update, Meltzer provided a follow-up report that multiple theories could explain Jade Cargill’s absence, with one being a “potential political issue.”
More information on Cargill has been reported on by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select. The report notes that company sources told them that Cargill was written off TV due to a legitimate injury. While no timetable for Cargill’s return was given, the SmackDown star has been placed on the injured list on the internal roster.
What’s Next For Jade Cargill’s Championship Reign?
Cargill is currently one-half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions alongside Bianca Belair. Despite the fact that Cargill looks to be legitimately injured and potentially out for months, no update has been provided on what’s next for the titles. According to a recent backstage report, the curse of the Women’s Tag Titles looks to have struck again as Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill look set to relinquish their championships soon.
