The AEW World Title match has been made official for the upcoming Full Gear pay-per-view with Kenny Omega forced to defend his belt against an old friend.
On the 6th of October edition of AEW Dynamite, a Casino Ladder Match took place to crown a number one contender for Omega’s AEW World Title. Six names were announced for the match with a Joker being the surprise last entrant into the match.
Orange Cassidy, Matt Hardy, Jon Moxley, Lance Archer, Andrade El Idolo, and PAC were the six men announced for the bout all could have claimed the poker chip hanging above the ring. Ultimately all of them were undone when the Joker emerged and Hangman Page made his highly anticipated return to AEW television.
Page claimed the victory and the title match with AEW now confirming that Page will go one-on-one with his former tag team partner Kenny Omega for the gold at Full Gear on the 13th of November.
Appearing on My Mom’s Basement, AEW President Tony Khan recently alluded to the match main eventing the pay-per-view after the two men met last year at Full Gear in the final of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament:
“Last year [the AEW World Title eliminator tournament] culminated with Kenny and Hangman, which is very fitting because now as we go into Full Gear this year, Kenny is the champion and he’s facing Hangman.”
On that occasion, Kenny Omega picked up the victory over Page which then allowed The Best Bout Machine to defeat Jon Moxley for the title on a special edition of AEW Dynamite.
Tony Khan may have given away more than just the Full Gear main event after a photo of Khan and what appeared to be the Full Gear card did the round online.
