FTR Vs. Bullet Club Gold Secures New First For AEW Collision

FTR celebrate on AEW Collision

FTR and Bullet Gold Gold lead the way for AEW Collision.

No matter the feelings of many fans — and even the likes of Seth Rollins — Dave Meltzer’s match ratings remain a guide of the best matches in wrestling history since the Wrestling Observer Newsletter was launched in 1982. While some people put more stock into the ratings than others, the list of matches to achieve five stars or more includes many of the greatest bouts ever seen.

On July 15th, 2023 FTR made of Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood, and Bullet Club Gold featuring Jay White and Juice Robinson added another match to that list.

In the aftermath of the high-energy Two-Out-Of-Three Falls match that went 58 minutes, Meltzer declared it the best televised American tag team match in history. Writing in the Observer Newsletter the veteran journalist continued his praise awarding the match *****1/4. In doing so the match became the first from AEW Collision to be awarded five stars or higher.

AEW Collision launched on June 17th, 2023.

Has FTR Had Any Five-Star Match Before?

FTR is no stranger to five-star matches having been awarded that rating or higher on six occasions including their recent victory over White and Robinson on Collision.

Their first match to hit the famous score came against the Young Bucks in November 2020, when their clash at Full Gear was awarded ***** 1/4. The pair’s trilogy of matches with The Briscoes was awarded *****, *****, and ***** 1/2 respectively. While their meeting with Aussie Open in London in October 2022 was also given *****.
