FTR Top First Ever PWI Tag Team 50

PWI Tag Team 50

Former AEW Tag Team Champions FTR have been ranked number one in the first ever PWI Tag Team 50, the magazine has announced.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated is the oldest active wrestling magazine in existence, having launched way back in 1979. The monthly publication has enjoyed an unbroken spell as one of the biggest mags in the game ever since.

In 1991 in an effort to increase readership, PWI launched the PWI 500, an annual ranking of the 500 best wrestlers in the world. The 500 is still going strong today (the 2020 edition was headed by AEW Champion Jon Moxley), and the release of the list has become something fans look forward to debating every year.

As noted, this is the first time PWI has produced a list dedicated to tag team wrestling, with the five criteria for determining the rankings as follows:

  • Momentum
  • Wins and losses
  • Chemistry
  • Activity
  • ‘It’ factor

The duo of Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood finished ahead of Kenny Omega and Hangman Page, the tandem they toppled to lift the AEW Tag Team Championship at All Out in September.

In third place is the first WWE entry, the Golden Role Models Sasha Banks and Bayley, who are also the highest ranking female team on the list.

The full top 10 is as follows:

  1. FTR
  2. Kenny Omega & Hangman Page
  3. The Golden Role Models
  4. The North
  5. Street Profits
  6. Guerrillas of Destiny
  7. Lucha Bros.
  8. New Day
  9. Kabuki Warriors
  10. Roppongi 3K
