FTR Set To Defend AEW Tag Team Championships At WrestleDream

FTR Celebrate Dax Harwood Cash Wheeler

FTR will defend their AEW Tag Team Championship at WrestleDream after accepting a challenge from Aussie Open.

The duo of Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood will face off against Aussie Open at the highly anticipated event, set to emanate from the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington on Sunday 1st October.

FTR successfully defender their titles against the Iron Savages on the 16th September edition of AEW Collision but were not without new challengers for long with Aussie Open declaring their desire for the gold later on the same show.

The Australian duo of Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher are former Ring Of Honor Tag Team Champions who famously lost their Championships to MJF and Adam Cole on the AEW Zero Hour pre-show ahead of AEW All In at London’s Wembley Stadium on 27th August. The pair recently revealed that talks had taken place regarding a move to WWE, but nothing concrete had materialised.

Aussie Open picked up a routine victory over PB Smooth and Wes Barkley on Collision and wasted no time in issuing the challenge to FTR, stating that they would battle the duo at WrestleDream even if the Tag Team Championships were not on the line.

The teams met in October 2022 in the night one main event of NJPW Royal Quest II at London’s Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. FTR were successful on that occasion in a critically acclaimed bout that lasted almost 32 minutes.

The pair now meet once again at WrestleDream, with the titles set to be at stake should Harwood and Wheeler overcome the challenge of The Workhorsemen on the 23rd September edition of AEW Collision.
