SmackDown opened with the contract signing between Ronda Rousey & Naomi and Charlotte Flair & Sonya Deville for the match at Elimination Chamber. The two teams traded insults, before it was revealed that Rousey would be forced to wrestle the match with one arm behind her back. After the contract was confirmed, things eventually broke down into a brawl.
The main event also served to build anticipation for Elimination Chamber, with Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Goldberg meeting face-to-face. Reigns’ Special Counsel Paul Heyman lauded his employer for his achievements, before Goldberg interrupted. The show went off the air with a tense stare down.
Elsewhere on the show, Sami Zayn won the Intercontinental Championship for the third time by defeating Shinsuke Nakamura. The former New Japan star, had held the gold since August 2021.
