A new report has offered fresh update on the post-press conference brawl after AEW All Out, including how the chaos has affected plans for AEW Dynamite.
At All Out CM Punk climbed back to the top of the AEW mountain after defeating Jon Moxley in a bloody main event. The victory saw Punk avenge a recent defeat to Moxley, which saw the latter crowned AEW Undisputed Champion.
After the match Punk was confronted by a returning MJF who had earlier won the Casino Ladder Match. However, the post-event press conference, and the backstage brawl that it set into motion continues to dominate headlines.
During the press conference despite being sat just feet from AEW President Tony Khan, CM Punk opened fire on the media, AEW EVP’s, Hangman Adam Page and just about everyone who he felt had wronged him in recent months. Especially taking issue with reports and comments regarding the situation around himself and his former friend Colt Cabana.
After Punk left the press conference a brawl ensued involving the World Champion, his long-time friend Ace Steel, The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega. It has been reported that Punk was throwing punches, while Steel allegedly threw a chair before biting Kenny Omega.
A new report from Fightful Select has attempted to shed some more light on the situation, and the spectacular fall-out that has followed. The report states that Punk was throwing punches during the brawl and Steel did in fact bite Omega. However, there is contention over who started the fight.
Some believe that Punk should have expected the confrontation following his explosive comments, and others said that Omega and the Young Bucks “aggressively approached” the locker room, in a move Punk could have seen as a 3-1 on attack.
The situation reportedly lasted around six minutes with Brandon Cutler, Christopher Daniels and Pat Buck attempting to calm the chaos.
Someone high up in AEW suggested that there will be little to no comment from the company due to possible legal issues. This tallies with an earlier report which stated that there are “pending legal issues.” Despite this, the Hoffman Estates Police Department have no record that police were requested in relation to the incident.
As a result of the chaos, a number of stars are currently unsure of their creative plans for the September 7th edition of AEW Dynamite.
There is also said to be some sympathy for MJF for the situation as it has completely overshadowed what should have been his big return on the show. The report adds that Fightful had not heard of any heat between the star and CM Punk, before the AEW Champion referenced him in his press conference tirade.
