One of wrestling’s most decorated performers is reportedly a free agent and could be headed to either WWE or AEW.
According to reports, Taya Valkyrie is now a free agent after finishing up with IMPACT! Wrestling at their recent Las Vegas tapings.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer spoke about Valkyrie’s free agency and the possibility of her going to Stamford or Jacksonville.
Valkyrie finished up with Impact as she was working with both companies [Impact and MLW] and on occasion AAA, where she still holds their Reina de Reinas title. She is not committed [to MLW] for a long time either. She is likely going to AEW or WWE and whichever one is supposed to be made clear within a short period of time.
Will Taya Valkyrie Go To WWE Or AEW?
Valkyrie has previously wrestled for one of those promotions. Valkyrie signed with NXT in 2020 under the new ring name Franky Monet. She came into NXT with a long list of achievements from her time in IMPACT! Wrestling, Lucha Underground and AAA. Yet despite all of her accolades, she was released after only a few short months and has since stated that she would be very hesitant to return.
Upon being let go her name was heavily linked with Tony Khan’s promotion. However, she returned to the independent wrestling scene for promotions such as MLW, AAA, NWA as well as IMPACT!
Speaking with Wrestling Inc. last year Valkyrie spoke about the possibility of signing for AEW.
“I just think that everything has to have its right time, you know?” Valkyrie said. “I don’t think that I want to be thrown into something that’s just going to be thrown away, or that I want to be in a position that doesn’t make everybody happy … I want everyone to benefit from whatever we do.”
“There’s just so much talent over there that I would love to play with,” she said. “So we’ll see, you know? There’s only so many days in a month, so you never know.”
But, now she seems to be finished with those promotions her arrival in AEW could be happening very soon.
On the March 8th edition of Dynamite, the undefeated TBS Champion Jade Cargill announced she will put her title on the line in Canada against a Canadian on March 15th. Valkyrie, being from British Columbia, Canada could very well be the one to answer Cargill’s challenge.
