Freddie Prinze Jr. explains why he dislikes Logan Paul in WWE. Freddie Prinze Jr. comes from the world of Hollywood and as a former WWE writer, he understands WWE’s desire to draw in the casual fan, but his old-school wrestling fan tendencies make him skeptical of Logan Paul’s in-character antics in WWE.
Freddie Prinze Jr. Is Not A Fan Of Logan Paul’s Viral Frog Splash From WWE Crown Jewel
Logan Paul is a social media megastar who continues to branch out as much as he possibly can. At WWE Crown Jewel, Logan Paul went one-on-one with Roman Reigns in what would only be Paul’s third WWE match. During that match, Logan took a selfie mid-Frog Splash, and that clip amassed millions of views on social media. Now, during an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Freddie Prinze Jr. explained why he personally isn’t yet a big fan of Logan Paul in WWE.
Look, I get why they’re doing it, I wasn’t a big fan of it. I will say this. He did his thing like the dude can wrestle. He’s done I think three matches now, and I finally watched the Crown Jewel match, I was so proud of the fact that I didn’t watch it because I hate Crown Jewel. It’s just the goofiest,” said Freddie Prinze Jr. “Um, so yeah, so it’s a tricky thing. I get why they did it, right. I get why they brought Mr. T to Wrestlemania. But I’m not a fan of it.
“I would rather see wrestlers wrestle. I didn’t like that he videoed himself doing a Frog Splash,” Prize added. How serious are you, this is the old school mentality, how serious are you about winning the WWE Championship if you’re going to hold a phone and video yourself doing a Frog Splash? It should be a singular [focus].”
Furthermore, Prinze explains that he feels Logan’s Frog Splash selfie takes away from the singular focus of winning. Compared to Hulk Hogan’s flexing, Prinze says Hulk’s flexing was all about powering up to muster the strength to win.
“Again. It’s an old school mentality, and I’m not saying it’s right. I’m just saying it’s mine. How serious are you about winning, if you don’t have a singular focus on winning. [Chris mentions Hulk Hogan flexing]. It’s not, the flex was to power him up. And you know, like, show you how into it he is. Whereas this is like, I’m gonna bring everyone into my social media page and get even more followers while I do this.”
Logan Paul was injured in the match against Roman Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel 2022 however, he is currently undergoing physical therapy and plans to return to the WWE ring.
As for Freddie Prinze Jr., he recently announced that he has returned to acting to fund his own professional wrestling promotion in the near future. Learn more here.
