Fred Rosser (formerly known as Darren Young in WWE) has debuted on NJPW Strong, as New Japan’s US arm continues to add to its fledgeling roster.
Following in the footsteps of fellow Nexus alumnus PJ Black (formerly Justin Gabriel), Rosser debuted as part of the LA Dojo’s ‘Fighting Spirit’ series in September.
Rosser, paired with NJPW USA regular Alex Zayne, picked up the win for his team against the tandem of Clark Connors and The DKC.
The contest marks Rosser’s first high profile outing since his release from WWE back in October 2017.
He had previously made sporadic appearances across the US independent scene, most notably as part of Chikara’s 2018 King of Trios tournament, as part of a Nexus inspired team with PJ Black and Tyrone Evans (formerly Michael Tarver).
In a recent interview with Fightful, Fred Rosser noted that whilst he wasn’t currently under contract with New Japan, it’s a development that he would love to see happen.
He went on to note that Rocky Romero had been instrumental in recruiting him for NJPW Strong and that he had long harboured ambitions to wrestle in Japan, having missed out on the opportunity whilst on the road with WWE.
