Current AEW star Frankie Kazarian has claimed his fifth IMPACT X Division Championship, dethroning Mike Bailey for the title at Bound For Glory!
Frankie Kazarian has become the third AEW-contracted star to hold an IMPACT Wrestling championship.
‘The Heavy Metal Rebel’ challenged ‘Speedball’ Mike Bailey for the X Division Championship at IMPACT’s eighteenth annual Bound For Glory pay-per-view, ultimately defeating Bailey in an already-acclaimed affair. Kazarian reversed an Ultima Weapon into a Cutter, before applying a Crossface Chickenwing for the submission victory.
The win hands Kaz his fifth X Division Championship, though one additional reign occurred under the mask of Suicide. He last held the title in 2011, losing it to Abyss.
With the victory, Frankie Kazarian is now the latest AEW star to lift an IMPACT championship following Kenny Omega and Christian Cage both holding the IMPACT World Championship in 2021. Omega won the title from Rich Swann at Rebellion 2021, before dropping it to Cage on the premiere edition of AEW Rampage that August.
Signed to AEW since the promotion’s inauguration, Frankie Kazarian was half of the inaugural AEW World Tag Team Champions alongside Scorpio Sky, but the breakup of SCU in May 2021 has sent him on a spiral down the AEW card. He’s been semi-regular in IMPACT ever since.
