Former WWE Talent Claims Vince McMahon Is “Controlling” AEW

WWE Vince McMahon

The weird and whacky world of professional wrestling has a long list of conspiracy theories attached with Vince McMahon often at the centre.

One of the most popular theories is he sent Vince Russo to WCW to purposely destroy the company from within with his awful booking decisions. A theory surrounded ECW and that he was secretly bankrolling the promotion and another whopper is the Montreal screw job involving McMahon and Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart was a work.

Now, former WCW and WWE referee Nick Patrick has dropped another doozy of a conspiracy theory on the world of wrestling.

Speaking on a recent edition of Monday Mailbag for AdFreeShows, the now-retired referee stated that he believes McMahon is secretly controlling AEW.

“I’m one of those old conspiracy theory guys, I always think Vince [McMahon] is sitting behind every damn thing, and I’m usually right. I’m just a conspiracy theory guy. He may not be running the thing, but he knows everything that’s going on and there are other ways to control them. … I think it’s a work rivalry, honestly, but it’s a controlled-inner office work rivalry.”

Is Vince McMahon Back In Charge Of WWE Creative?

In the summer of last year, McMahon sensationally retired from WWE in the wake of several sexual misconduct allegations. Upon leaving the company the creative reigns fell to his son-in-law Triple H.

Since taking over the position as the Chief Content Officer the DX founder has changed the direction of the company. He brought focus back to the United States and Intercontinental Championships, introduced WarGames to the main roster and brought back several previously released Superstars such as Bronson Reed, Johnny Gargano, Karrion Kross and Dakota Kai.

After several months of creative success, McMahon returned and created uncertainty around Triple H’s leadership.

Since McMahon forced his way back into the company earlier this year, speculation has been rife surrounding his involvement in WWE creative.

One of the significant factors giving weight to this rumour is the announcement of Brock Lesnar vs Omos at WrestleMania 39. However, this conjecture is yet to be corroborated.
