Former WWE Tag Team Champions Again Released

Latest reports have emerged about a former tag-team champion’s WWE release.

Toward the final hour of the 7th February episode of SmackDown, reports emerged about multiple releases conducted by the promotion. While Cedric Alexander confirmed his exit earlier in the day, Fightful Select reported on two more releases.

Hall of Famer Paul Ellering and former tag-team champions Authors of Pain (AOP) aka Akam and Rezar have now been released by the promotion. The AOP and Ellering were in partnership with Karrion Kross on Raw and even faced Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits last year at WrestleMania 40.

The Authors of Pain were previously released by the promotion in September 2020, before receiving a call back later in their career.

With four names already out of the promotion, fans believe a series of multiple releases are set to take place throughout the day. Fightful Select later noted that talents present backstage during tonight’s SmackDown were all left surprised by the releases.
