The Royal Rumble is known for featuring unexpected returns of past WWE superstars. Whether it is a one-off return like Diamond Dallas Page in the 2015 Royal Rumble or a permanent comeback like Edge in the 2020 Royal Rumble, every single one is usually met with a huge reaction.
Recently, another past WWE superstar has revealed what it would take for him to appear in this year’s Rumble.
Former WWE Tag Team Champion Wants $1,000,000 For WWE Royal Rumble Appearance
While appearing on Rene Dupree’s “Cafe de Rene” podcast, former WWE Tag Team Champion Paul London was asked by a fan whether he would appear in 2023’s Royal Rumble. Paul London answered in jest, stating exactly how much money he would require to make such an appearance.
“A million dollars and I want it upfront in cash. All of it Vince, you piece of sh*t. Unmarked bill in a briefcase handcuffed to my wrist. All of it. Yeah, that’s the only way I’d do it.”
Paul London is one of the longest-reigning WWE Tag Team Champions of all time. Teaming with Brian Kendrick, the duo held the World Tag Team Championships for an impressive 334 days between 2006 and 2007. This reign was a record until 2015 when the New Day overtook them during their historic 483-day reign.
London was also a Cruiserweight Champion during his WWE. He defeated Chavo Guerrero for the strap in March of 2005, holding it for 127 days before losing to Nunzio the following August on an episode of Velocity.
At the 2005 Royal Rumble, Paul London was famously eliminated by Gene Snitsky. The elimination has appeared in several highlight packages ever since due to London’s magnificent “shooting star sell” of Snitsky’s clothesline.
Since leaving WWE in 2008, London has appeared in several promotions around the world. His most recent in-ring run was with Lucha Underground from 2016 to 2018, where he competed as part of a faction called “The Rabbit Tribe.”
