A disgruntled former WWE Superstar has shared yet another tedious tale of their time working under Vince McMahon, a period where they weren’t even allowed to talk!
EC3 had genuine excitement surrounding him when he re-signed with WWE in 2018. Having established himself as a certified main eventer in IMPACT Wrestling, ‘The Top One Percent’ was ready to leave the same mark on WWE.
His second WWE run failed to deliver, though, as a litany of questionable booking decisions led to the overall failure of EC3. He’s once again spoken out about his tenure there during Sportskeeda Wrestling’s Shooting From The Hip podcast, indicating that Vince McMahon didn’t seem to care much, if at all, about NXT main roster call-ups:
“But I definitely think there was a creative meeting. They needed six people, and they were just throwing 8x10s, pictures, and videos. ‘Sure, whatever, I don’t care. Ohh, she’s funny, this guy looks cool, this guy has muscle, let’s take him. Oh, this guy looks like a freak; that works.’ And when they looked over our stuff and every idea that a creative person has who’s familiar with the product, I don’t think Vince watched for over thirty seconds to a minute.”
Continuing, EC3 detailed the experience he had under this banner, revealing a mute weatherman character as a planned gimmick:
“I swear, this is the truth; he saw one promo I did; it wasn’t even like one of our professional shoots. It was me by the pool. And I think I was going like, ‘Victory after victory.’ It was kind of goofy and over-the-top, like you don’t have any common sense. It was coolish and awesome. He [Vince] saw it once, and he was like, ‘No, this guy needs to be a weatherman. He can’t talk with much enthusiasm. Actually, he shouldn’t even talk.’
Nobody even said, ‘Hey, Vince, he’s actually a decent enough speaker, he might be good there with a microphone and produce something with that.’ Nobody even bothered to say anything.”
Called up to the main roster at the end of 2018, EC3 failed to achieve much of anything, outside of a victory over Dean Ambrose when the now-Jon Moxley was on his way out of the company. EC3 followed suit the following year, being released in April 2020.
Now dubbed ‘The Essential Character’, the former IMPACT World Champion has since set up camp in the National Wrestling Alliance. Alongside Braun Strowman, he also launched the Control Your Narrative brand as an active promotion earlier this year.
