WWE stars have been returning in droves over the past half-year. Since June of 2022, names like Braun Strowman, Johnny Gargano, Emma and Karrion Kross have made their WWE comebacks, among many others.
It has now been confirmed that another former WWE superstar will be making their return to the promotion imminently.
Former WWE Superstar Re-Signs With Company
In a recent report from Fightful Select, it has been revealed that Chelsea Green has signed with WWE.
Green has apparently been signed for quite a while but has been waiting for creative direction. This return marks her first time in WWE since her release in April 2021. Her final match for the company was during a Fatal-Four-Way in November 2020, which also featured Liv Morgan, Natalya and Tamina.
Chelsea Green spent the majority of her initial WWE stint as part of the NXT roster. She was aligned on-screen with Robert Stone, who acted as her manager. Green would compete in several matches while part of the black and gold brand, perhaps most notably defeating Shotzi Blackheart to qualify for a Women’s Championship six-person ladder match. Io Shirai ultimately won the ladder bout on NXT’s April 8th, 2020 edition.
Following her release, Chelsea Green competed in several American promotions. She kept herself very busy with wrestling for ROH, Impact Wrestling, GCW and NWA. One of her most notable accomplishments during this period was her Impact Knockouts Tag Team Title win at Countdown To Emergence 2022. She would hold these titles with Deonna Purrazzo for 56 days before losing to Jessicka & Taya Valkyrie at Bound for Glory 2022.
Her final match before signing for WWE was at NWA’s Hard Times event on November 12th, 2022. She competed against Kamille and KiLynn King on the show in a Triple Threat for the NWA World Women’s Title. Kamille would win the match, retaining her championship.
There is no word yet on whether Green’s fiancé Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder, will be making his own return to the company.
