Former WWE Superstar Claims Unusual Addiction Impacted Their Career

Brad Maddox has opened up about how addictions to sex and pornography negatively impacted his career.

Maddox joined WWE in 2008 and had spells with developmental territories Ohio Valley Wrestling and Florida Championship Wrestling before arriving on the main roster in 2012. Over the next three years, Maddox served as an in-ring talent, referee, and Raw General Manager.

Speaking during an appearance on Wrestling With Rip Rogers, Maddox explained how his addictions caused him to lose his way.

“I was one of those stories where they just kind of lost their way. I got caught up in some things. Now, I’m sure you know the news. It’s fairly old at this point, right? Yeah, some stuff leaks, but it was kind of that time period. So, I had a p*rn addiction. Then that cascaded into a s*x addiction, and that was a whole thing for me. That was just very mind-consuming.”

He added that this lack of focus caused him to not take full advantage of the opportunities that came his way.

“So I wasn’t very focused, right at the time when I should have been. And then I’m going up there as a referee, and I’m having to carry a walkie-talkie around, and my ego was just too big. I didn’t fully take advantage of the opportunities.”

Brad Maddox Left WWE Under A Cloud

Maddox was fired by WWE in November after an incident during a dark match. During the bout, Maddox called the crowd “cocky pr*cks,” something that didn’t go down well with Vince McMahon.

In 2017 Maddox was back in the news after appearing in a leaked explicit video with Saraya and others. Speaking about the leak in 2022, Saraya said that the ordeal made her contemplate taking her own life.
