Former WWE Star Signs With TNA Wrestling

A former WWE star is here to stay with TNA wrestling.

Earlier on the January 23rd episode of Impact Live, former United States Champion Matt Cardona also returned after almost three months of absence. Arriving on the show, Cardona immediately challenged Joe Hendry for the title.

However, it was not the only return tonight. Former World Wrestling Entertainment and TNA star, Mustafa Ali, also returned to the promotion and immediately announced his intentions. As part of the promotion in 2024, he last challenged Nic Nemeth for the World title in a failed attempt.

Celebrating his ‘I Quit’ victory over Josh Alexander at Genesis 2025, Mike Santana would be interrupted by the returning Ali. Making his way back to the promotion after several months, Mustafa Ali further announced that he had signed a contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, and was targeting the World Championship.

With both Cardona and Ali after the World title, Joe Hendry has a big task on his hands.

Multiple WWE NXT Stars Invade Impact Live

During the 23rd January title match between Fraxion and The Rascalz, fans witnessed the shocking appearance of NXT stars, Wes Lee. Tyriek Igwe & Tyson Dupont. Costing The Rascalz their title shot, Nathan Frazer of Fraxiom capitalized on the opportunity, and hit a Spanish Fly and Phoenix Splash, to retain their gold.

It was also the first time an NXT Title was defended on Total Nonstop Action Wrestling television.
