Former WWE Star Remembers Kevin Owens' Excellent Ring Psychology In ROH

Former WWE star Rhyno has praised Kevin Owens for his in-ring psychology during their time together in Ring of Honor.

Despite having more experience at the time, Rhyno recalled, in a video on D-Von Dudley’s YouTube channel, taking advice from Owens, then known as Kevin Steen, and being impressed with the results.

The two faced off on ROH Death Before Dishonor X on 15 September 2012. Owens, with 12 years in the wrestling business, took on Rhyno, a 17-year veteran, yet it was Owens who offered in-ring psychology advice.

“I was working with Kevin Owens, and this was in Ring of Honor, he goes, ‘Come in the ring, hit so and so with a spear, hit this person with a spear, hit the referee with a spear.’ Usually, if you do one, you can’t do two or three right in a row, and I did it,”

Rhyno said.

“Something about Owens and Montreal guys, they really have good psychology. He goes, ‘Trust me,’ and I go, ‘Because it’s you,’ and I did. Holy cow, it just went up and up and up. It was really cool, and he was right.”

The match was well received by fans and earned a three-and-a-half-star rating from wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer. Rhyno and Owens would face off once more in ROH in 2013, this time in an eight-man Steel Cage match. After Owens signed with WWE, the two briefly teamed up in 2015 for an NXT match against Finn Balor and Samoa Joe.
