Former WWE Star Breaks Silence After John Cena’s Sudden Tribute During Match: “900 Twitter Notifications”

John Cena recently paid tribute to a former WWE Superstar.

A former WWE Superstar finally broke his silence after a sudden tribute from John Cena stunned the wrestling world.

At Clash in Paris 2025 premium live event, John Cena faced Logan Paul in a singles match as part of the 17-time WWE Champion’s retirement tour. During the bout, Cena surprisingly executed a “Styles Clash” on Paul, which was a tribute to AJ Styles, one of his greatest rivals. Prior to that, he also used Baron Corbin’s “End of Days” signature maneuver, with play-by-play man Michael Cole calling it a “swingside lariat” during the live broadcast.

Speaking on the In The Weeds podcast of Fightful Wrestling, Corbin, who is now going with the ring name Bishop Dyer, recalled his X account being flooded by fans’ messages and notifications after Cena did his “End of Days” finisher.

It was funny because I wasn’t watching at the time. I looked at my phone and there were 900 Twitter notifications. I’m like, ‘Uh oh, what did I do? Someone hacked my pictures? Let’s see.’ I got on and saw that. That is so cool that he [John Cena] did it. I had no idea it was happening,” Corbin disclosed.

The Lone Wolf then praised The Cenation Leader while expressing their friendship in a positive way.

That’s John for you. He is going to pay his respects to you in a kind of the most backhanded way, where you either notice because you’re paying attention, or you don’t notice at all. He did a whole thing where it was a thank you to all his friends, and none of them have noticed it yet. When they do, it’ll be epic. He is very good and sneaky with that stuff. His interview after where he’s like, ‘I don’t get to wrestle all the people who have impacted me or my career, so this is my way of saying thank you.’ I thought that was pretty cool because John and I are pretty tight,” Corbin shared. The Cenation Leader outlasted The Maverick after two consecutive Attitude Adjustments in his final appearance in Paris.

John Cena’s SmackDown appearance in Chicago will potentially be his last for the blue brand

John Cena’s current remaining appearances before calling it a career are seven (five confirmed dates and two unannounced). He is set to be a part of SmackDown in Chicago, Illinois, today in the aftermath of his match with Logan Paul at Clash in Paris.

In a recent report, the upcoming episode will likely be Cena’s final SmackDown, which will emanate from the All State Arena, the same place he made his main roster debut on June 27, 2002, against Kurt Angle.

It could be possible that there will be no more SmackDown appearances for The Cenation Leader, as he will only show up on RAW, Crown Jewel, Survivor Series, and his final match on NBC’s Saturday Night’s Main Event.

There’s also a possibility that John Cena shows up on WrestlePalooza (presumably one of the unannounced dates) in a rumored match against Brock Lesnar.
