Cesaro and Tyson Kidd enjoyed huge success together – but their initially random pairing didn’t make this too apparent from the offset.
Commonly referred to as ‘The Brass Ring Club’, the duo of Cesaro and Tyson Kidd held the WWE Tag Team Championships once, doing so in a brief reign as part of a run that lasted just half a year.
Cesaro, now again wrestling as Claudio Castagnoli, discussed how the duo came around during a live Insight podcast with Chris Van Vliet over Starrcast V weekend, revealing how social media let ‘The Swiss Superman’ know of his new tag team partner:
“We found out on Twitter that we would be teaming up on Raw that night in a tag team gauntlet. That is legit how we found out. We get to the arena and it’s like I guess we are teaming together tonight. We were always friends, but then the first time we teamed was that night and it instantly clicked.”
That Gauntlet match, aired on Raw’s 1 December 2014 broadcast, saw Cesaro and Tyson Kidd joined by Goldust and Stardust, Adam Rose and The Bunny, The New Day, and eventual winners The Usos. It didn’t take long for Cesaro and Kidd to strike gold, though, capturing the Tag Team Championships by February.
The pairing wrestled their last match together during the 2015 Elimination Chamber, participating in a tag team Chamber match that saw The New Day retain the doubles titles. An injury to Tyson Kidd ended his career and as a result, the team.
Cesaro now resides in All Elite Wrestling, representing the Blackpool Combat Club and being in his first run as ROH World Champion.
