A former WWE Superstar has opened up about turning down an offer to return to the company because he was “starting to forget s***”.

After five years on the independent scene, Mike Knox joined WWE in 2006 as part of the ECW brand. There, he debuted as Kelly Kelly’s overprotective boyfriend, interrupting her striptease segments to cover her with a towel.

During his time on the brand, he teamed with Test for a short time and had a notable feud with CM Punk, but was unable to defeat the now-AEW star.

In 2008, Mike Knox moved to Raw and had a short-lived feud with Rey Mysterio. The following year, he was drafted to SmackDown but saw little success and was released from WWE in April 2010.

During an appearance on ‘Paltrocast’, Knox revealed that he was offered a chance to return to WWE in 2015, but turned it down as he was having both memory problems and physical issues.

“I was a realist, I always have been. Back then, especially then, I was 330 pounds, 320, you know what I mean?

“I hadn’t worked and my knees were freaking really bothering me, my back, my neck was kind of screwed up, you know what I mean? Like, I was starting to forget s***.

“I still want to live an awesome life, you know what I mean? I don’t want to be, you know, have a head full of mush and two broke legs … I want to be able to run the streets and howl at the moon.”

After leaving the company, Mike Knox spent several years in IMPACT Wrestling where he was a member of Aces and Eights and then The Menagerie.

More recently, Knox has been performing in the NWA, debuting in November 2021 and immediately beginning a feud with Trevor Murdoch over the NWA World’s Heavyweight Championship, although he failed to topple the champion.

At NWA 74 on August 27th, Knox was defeated by WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray.
