Former WWE Tag Team Champion Erick Rowan could be on his way back to the company following the cancellation of an upcoming appearance at an independent event.
Rowan first signed with WWE back in 2011 and was prominently featured alongside Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper [Brodie Lee] as part of The Wyatt Family. Following a brief hiatus from the group in 2014, Rowan would eventually reunite with the group until 2017 when the group was disbanded as part of the Superstar Shake-up. Teaming with Harper once more as The Bludgeon Brothers and later forming an alliance with Daniel Bryan, Rowan would be released from his contract in April 2020 as part of the first of many rounds of cuts during the pandemic.
Aside from one-off appearances on AEW Dynamite and SmackDown to pay his respects to Brodie Lee and Bray Wyatt on tribute shows, Rowan has not signed with a major company and has instead competed at independent shows. However, according to a new update, there is increased speculation that Rowan could once again be rehired by WWE.
Rowan was set to compete at the East Coast Pro Wrestling event Coal Town Carnage. However, a new update has been provided on ECPW’s Facebook page that Rowan will no longer be appearing at the event due to circumstances that were out of their control:
We have just received word this evening from Erick Rowan that unfortunately he will not be able to make his scheduled appearance next week at Coal Town Carnage.
Erick stated that new contractual obligations are preventing him from making several dates including ours. This is the first time in ECPW history that one of our scheduled stars cancelled and it is out of our control.
With that being said, the show will still feature Former WWE Superstar Brian Kendrick, the debut of Vanessa Kraven plus all of the superstars or East Coast Pro Wrestling. Three title matches, a New Waterford Rumble and much more goes down next Saturday at The New Waterford & District Community Center.
Please message the ECPW FB Page if further information is required.
Further Indication That Erick Rowan May Be Returning To WWE
A follow-up report has been provided by PWInsider, who states that Rowan has been spotted in Pittsburgh recently, which is where WWE wrestlers go to get cleared to compete in the ring.
Although there has been nothing clear on TV to indicate that Rowan is returning soon, fans have noticed the quick picture glitches that have taken place on Raw and SmackDown after WrestleMania. With it being previously reported that there are future plans for a Bo Dallas return, fans are speculating that Rowan will be linked to the Dallas return.
In other news, 2 WWE stars elaborated on how they were paid using “The Bucket System.”
In a new update, Erick Rowan has re-signed with the company.
