Following WWE’s latest round of talent releases, former WWE star Nixon Newell, formerly known as Tegan Nox, has publicly criticised the company, calling the decision “insane.”
On May 2, WWE released 17 talents across both the main roster and NXT. Notable names included Dakota Kai, Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler, Cora Jade, Kayden Carter, and Katana Chance.
Many of those released have since spoken out online, expressing a range of emotions, from disappointment and gratitude to defiance and optimism for the future. In response to the wave of cuts, Newell took to X and didn’t hold back.
“Imagine releasing talent like that!…place is f***ing insane!”
She wrote, slamming her former employer’s decision. Newell has experienced two separate releases from the company. Originally signed in 2017, she was released in 2021, then brought back in 2022 before being released again in 2024. Her comment adds to growing frustration from wrestlers both inside and outside the company regarding how talent is handled during these corporate shakeups.
