Veteran referee and former WWE official Mike Chioda has revealed he is set to make a comeback to the wrestling ring after last being seen in the ring for AEW.
Chioda was the man in the middle at WWE for thirty-one years before his shock release from the company on April 15th, 2020 along with a slew of other on-screen talents.
Mike Chioda had refereed many iconic matches while at WWE including the show-stealing Hollywood Hogan vs. The Rock match at WrestleMania X8 as well as the incredible WrestleMania 31 main event when Seth Rollins handed Chioda his Money In The Bank briefcase mid-match in what was dubbed ‘The Heist of the Century’ by Michael Cole.
Speaking on his ‘Monday Mailbag’ show [available at AdFreeShows.com] Mike Chioda has revealed his return to the wrestling ring is imminent.
“Coming up in Puerto Rico, I’m gonna start working with the Colons over there. Epico and Primo Colon, and their father. They’re starting a new company up called Latin American Wrestling Entertainment Incorporated. I’ll be leaving [to go] out there on Tuesday and do some stuff with production and referee and training the referees and stuff like that. Helping out with all sorts. And I’ll start to get back in the ring a little bit hopefully once a month there. So [I’ll be] in Puerto Rico for live TV, so it’s gonna be awesome. Tapings and TV, and they got a really good thing going on there, we got a nice thing going on. Nice staging, nice ring, they got a lot of old school [talent] plus Epico and Primo and what they put into it and stuff like that. They have some interesting talent coming up in their company as well.”
Most recently Chioda has appeared on-screen for All Elite Wrestling. His debut came on Dynamite where he officiated a TNT Championship match between Cody Rhodes and Scorpio Sky. He later returned in November to officiate Rhodes’ TNT Title defence against Darby Allin at Full Gear, counting the fall for Allin to win the championship.
