A former WWE Champion has looked back on their WrestleMania moment that quickly went off the rails and how quickly a Hall of Famer was able to get things back on track.
Although The Miz was originally set to be one of the hosts of WrestleMania 39 and not have a match, The A Lister suffered 2 losses at the event. Following a loss to Pat McAfee on WrestleMania Saturday, Miz was put in another match the following night by Snoop Dogg, this time against Mania 35 opponent Shane McMahon.
While it appeared that another impromptu match was set to take place, McMahon tore his quad seconds into the match. Realising there was a problem, Hall of Famer Snoop Dogg made his way back into the ring and hit Miz with The People’s Elbow to win the match.
Speaking with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Miz recalled the chaos that took place and the risks of live TV, adding praise for Snoop Dogg’s quick thinking:
“That definitely wasn’t supposed to happen, but it does happen. Those are moments that you don’t want to happen, but are also moments that you literally are like, ‘Okay, this is what I’ve been prepared for.'”
“The number one thing that was talked about was Snoop Dogg giving me a People’s Elbow, rather than, ‘Oh man, something happened at WrestleMania.'”
“This is the biggest event we have, and those type of situations do happen, and it is our job to make sure that you don’t realise it’s happening. He was seamless. He was so good in that moment.”
The Miz Admits Doubt Over WWE WrestleMania 41
Although Miz was prominently featured at WrestleMania 39 and won the Tag Team Championships with R-Truth the following year, there are no guarantees that he will be a part of the show in 2025. During the same interview, the former WWE Champion opened up about potentially missing the event.
