Former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman has teased hanging up his boots.
Just hours before the 2nd May episode of SmackDown, WWE released several main-roster and NXT superstars from their contracts. Several top names, such as Braun Strowman, Shayna Baszler, and Cora Jade, made the list, including former women’s tag-team champion Dakota Kai.
Although the 17 released names sent shockwaves across the industry, Strowman’s inclusion in the list left plenty stunned. Strowman was in a hot feud against Jacob Fatu for the past few weeks and was also involved in the ‘Road to WrestleMania’ journey ahead of WrestleMania 41. Arguably, one of the top names in the roster, Strowman’s exit recently led to him teasing his retirement.
The Monster among Men was last released in 2021, before he eventually made his comeback in September 2022. Despite his consistency and star power, the promotion was compelled to relieve him of his duties.
Following his release, Strowman shared a cryptic social media post, leading to speculations about his possible retirement. Uploading his vacation photo on X(Twitter), Strowman wrote,
“I might just retire here!!!!!”
Despite the ambiguity of the statement, wrestling fans speculate that Strowman may be contemplating retirement from professional wrestling.
