Former WWE Champion Says No One From AEW Has Reached Out To Them

Jinder Mahal AEW WWE

A former WWE champion has commented on AEW’s interest in him.

Earlier last year, former World Champion Jinder Mahal made a shocking return on Raw, only to be confronted by the returning Dwayne Johnson. A verbal exchange later, Mahal became a talking figure in the promotion.

However, only a few months later, ‘The Modern-Day Maharaja’ was released from his contract in April 2024. After serving his 90-day no-compete clause, Mahal aka Raj Dhesi made several indie appearances, including a brief stint at GCW.

Recently speaking to Monopoly Events’ Jamal Niaz at For The Love of Wrestling, Dhesi opened up if Tony Khan and AEW ever reached out to him.

“AEW, not at an official level. Nobody has on a really official level. Myself, at this time, I’m just enjoying myself. I was under contract for so many years, and the WWE schedule right now, I wish we would have had this schedule now with less emphasis on live events because we were worked pretty heavily. Our schedules were quite intense with live events in the United States, North America, then coming overseas quite a bit, all over the world.

As far as signing with another major promotion, everything would have to be right. Storyline, business would have to make sense. Everything would have to make sense. I’m in a great spot. I had a great career in WWE and I’m happy with everything I have accomplished. If that is everything that I ever do, I am more than satisfied and happy with it. I’m into business outside of WWE. I just filmed a movie last week. I’m just excited to have freedom and I do whatever makes me happy,”

Last year, before his release, Dhesi and Tony Khan were involved in an infamous heated exchange on X(Twitter).

Jinder Mahal Reveals A Major WWE Secret

A few months ago, during his appearance on Maven’s YouTube channel, Jinder Mahal aka Raj Dhesi opened up on a much-talked-about WWE secret. Spilling the beans, he shared,

“When we’re in a commercial break, in this case, it is a PPV, so maybe when there is a video package playing, all the lights in the arena go dark. Throughout the night, the ring crew is coming out to change something, generally you can sneak under there without anybody noticing. I’ve done that a bunch of times.

Underneath the ring, it is called a bed. There is a little mat there, and there is a gentleman by the name of Nick Daw who is under there with a monitor. They have got water bottles down there, they’ve got diet Cokes, Red Bulls. So you have your bed, you’ve got your monitor, and Nick actually has a headset to the producers.”
