This report contains spoilers for the May 6th edition of WWE Main Event.
A former WWE Champion has made his return to singles action after almost a year away, but he did not return alone.
Jinder Mahal has made a victorious return to the ring, in his first singles match since May 22nd 2020. Mahal briefly returned to action at Superstar Spectacle in January alongside The Bollywood Boyz, where he was defeated by Drew McIntyre and Indus Sher.
On the upcoming edition of WWE Main Event, which is set to air on May 6th, Mahal returned flanked by NXT stars Dilsher Shanky and Rinku Singh formerly of Indus Sher. Mahal’s return saw him take on and defeat another former WWE Champion in the form of Jeff Hardy.
The taping also marks the first appearances of Shanky and Singh since they wrestled at Superstar Spectacle on January 22nd.
Jinder Mahal’s career has been blighted by injury since mid 2019, which has seen him only compete a handful of times in the last two years. However, speaking at the time of his return to action at WWE Superstar Spectacle, the former world champion expressed his desire to return better than ever.
“The Modern Day Maharaja” explained that while it was tough to be out of action for so long, being in WWE is all he’s ever wanted to do.
Elsewhere at the Main Event taping, Mustafa Ali and Ricochet continued their long-running rivalry. The pair have been going toe to toe in some capacity since late 2020. In recent months the high-flying duo have traded victories, with Ricochet picking up the win on the upcoming episode of Main Event.
