Kairi Sane looks set to return to action inside a WWE ring after a hiatus lasting more than 3 years.
As reported by social media account WrestleVotes, Sane has been added to the internal roster and is expected to make the surprise return sooner rather than later:
After what feels like months of speculation, I’m told Kairi Sane has reappeared on the internal talent roster. Her return to the company is imminent.
The former NXT Women’s Champion last competed on an episode of Raw in July 2020, defeating Bayley and being attacked by The Role Model the following week to write her off of TV indefinitely. The departure was later confirmed by the company as a video was posted to their YouTube channel to bid farewell to The Sky Pirate.
Despite no longer competing, Sane remained an ambassador with the company in Japan until late 2021 when her contract expired. Along with multiple title reigns, Sane was also the winner of the first-ever Mae Young Classic Tournament.
Where Has KAIRI Wrestled Following Her WWE Exit?
The former Women’s Tag Team Champion made her first appearance for STARDOM in February 2022 and wrestled under the name KAIRI. Becoming the first-ever IWGP Women’s Champion in November 2022, KAIRI would run into an old rival at Wrestle Kingdom 17 as Mercedes Mone [FKA Sasha Banks] came face-to-face with the champion. KAIRI would drop the title to Mone at the Battle in the Valley pay-per-view in February 2023.
In regards to the road back to the company, it has been said that “There’s more to the story” when it comes to Kairi Sane’s WWE return.
In an update by PWInsider, it has been stated that there are in fact nom plans for a Sane return:
For those who have asked about reports making the way around social media that Kairi Sane has been added to WWE’s internal roster, PWInsider.com can confirm that is not correct.
Sane is not listed internally for any roster or even on the company’s Misc. division as of this morning.
WrestleVotes has provided more clarification on their original post, stating that Sane is part of the misc section of the internal roster, which is where names that are used very occasionally such as Steve Austin and The Undertaker are listed.
Further clarification has been provided courtesy of Fightful Select. It is stated that Sane will be in the States in November to work and her re-signing was very much a priority in 2023.
