Former WWE Champion expresses displeasure over possible ‘vocal’ wrestling role.
With over three decades of experience in the wrestling business, former WWE champion Rob Van Dam is arguably one of the most popular and illustrated performers.
Last wrestling in AEW back in April 2024, RVD is seemingly done with the in-ring work. Currently signed to WWE on a legend’s contract, he recently opened up on his willingness to pursue a career as a trainer. While RVD had previously expressed he did not have the patience to be a trainer, things might have changed now.
Speaking on his 1 Of A Kind With RVD podcast, the Hall of Famer addressed the chances of him helping out as a trainer. However, while Van Dam was up for it, he rejected any chances of becoming a commentator.
I have some interest, though, in helping out. Me and Katie [Forbes] were talking about that earlier. I never thought I would have before, but like I said, if someone’s not at zero and it’s just pointing out things that I see that could make them better, I do that all the time anyway. So I could see doing that, especially with the big welcome vibe, like ‘you’re welcome here any time.’ That really encourages that as well, me feeling like, ‘Maybe I could see me sometime maybe lending a hand in that way, doing that.’
But I couldn’t see that before, and now I can. Katie said she wants to see me commentate. I’m like, I still can’t see that one. I can’t imagine acting like I’m really excited about something I’m watching that is not exciting me at all. I don’t think that’s for me.”

WWE Hall Of Famer Rob Van Dam Addresses The Wrestler’s Union Situation
For a very long time, there exists a longstanding debate over unionizing professional wrestling. Addressing the situation, veteran Rob Van Dam shared his take on it. Speaking on his 1 Of A Kind With RVD podcast, Van Dam shared:
I don’t know that I would say that I dislike unions, mostly when I’m having discussions about unions it has to do with my business, my industry, that I’ve been in for like 35 years. I don’t see a union being a good thing and working cohesively with pro wrestling. I’ve never understood it and I still don’t. So, I’m not a fan of it, and when it comes to wrestlers wanting a union, I don’t get it. So, I’m not pro-union, that’s for sure.”
