Former WWE Champion Hoping To Return To Company To Retire CM Punk

A familiar name from CM Punk’s past is hoping to make a WWE return so that they can retire the Best in the World before bringing their own career to a close.

In 2009, Punk feuded with Jeff Hardy over the World Heavyweight Championship. While Hardy first defeated Punk at Night of Champions to win the title, Punk beat Hardy in his own game at SummerSlam as he defeated The Charismatic Enigma in a TLC match at SummerSlam.

15 years later, Punk is back in the company following his stint in AEW and Hardy is currently signed to TNA after also exiting AEW earlier in the year. However, both Jeff and Matt Hardy have stated in previous interviews that they would like to finish up their careers in WWE when the time is right.

Speaking with Timhann Revera, Hardy outlined his dream scenario for a return which involved being a part of Punk’s retirement match before ultimately being inducted into the Hall of Fame:

“Ultimately, man, I’d like to do a really cool match in the WWE and do the Hall of Fame and all that stuff to really end it on the highest note possible. Because looking back at my career now, the history is just a glimpse, like a blink of an eye, when you achieve so much and then you’re here at this point, older in life. So it’d really be special to have a killer match, maybe make CM Punk retire, and then, go into the Hall of Fame.

What’s Next For CM Punk?

Having recently marked 1 year since his return match at the Madison Square Garden house show, plans will be in motion for Punk’s first WrestleMania match since 2013. According to recent reports, big plans are in place for CM Punk in 2025.
