Former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre Explains When His Rivalry With CM Punk Will End

Drew McIntyre Deletes Controversial AEW Reference To CM Punk

After their WWE SummerSlam match in August, Drew McIntyre opened up on his feud with CM Punk.

At SummerSlam in Cleveland, Drew McIntyre defeated CM Punk after a grueling battle. Their feud began in January 2024, when Punk suffered a torn triceps injury at Royal Rumble. Soon after the two engaged in a rivalry, as Punk cost The Scottish Warrior the World Championship multiple times.

At SummerSlam, McIntyre won the first battle, while Punk won the second match at Bash In Berlin. However, after the Biggest Party of the Summer, McIntyre had detailed out when his feud with The Second City Saint might end. Speaking with Sam Roberts at Fanatics Fest NYC, he said:

Yeah, if I take myself out of my own shoes, step back. Even in my own shoes, if you told me that prior to November, I would say there’s no way he’s ever gonna be back in WWE, never mind him and I in a match together, and then also having the feelings that I have for him, from my first run in the company, growing up around him and things I’ve not touched upon, but he negatively affected my career and life in certain ways when I was a kid, and I remember that, and it’s well documented, he was a piece of crap and is a piece of crap especially back then.

So yeah, I could never have imagined it happening, and I also probably knew I’m gonna rough him up the first chance I get, and I did that, and his little tricep fell off the bone [laughs], so if he wants to keep coming after SummerSlam, I mean, I’m all for it.”

The Scottish Psychopath further detailed that their feud shall continue until one of them is no longer in the same company or the brand.

He said he won’t stop, and he’ll make sure that I’ll never be world champion, and I know that’s true, until he is officially out of WWE, so we’re gonna go until one of us is not in the company anymore, at least not on the same brand, it feels like, because I want to be world champ and he’s prevented it multiple times. So we’re just gonna have to, I don’t know, one way or the other, exile the other out the company.”

In Germany, the former AEW star defeated McIntyre in a strap match and announced his next opponent. CM Punk claimed he is done with Drew McIntyre, and is already looking toward his next challenge. However, it now seems while McIntyre has a different view on his current feud, Punk holds an opposite one.

Drew McIntyre Shares The History Behind The Deleted Jack Perry Photo

Speaking to Gorilla Position, Drew McIntyre opened up on the history behind his now-deleted Jack Perry photo. Punk and Perry share a troubled history from their time together in AEW, and McIntyre used that to his advantage during his feud with the former WWE Champion.

On the same flight (McIntyre responded when asked how the photo with Jack Perry came about). He was just right in front of me. I had a chat with him. Lovely lad. His girlfriend’s really nice, flying to L.A. and just said, ‘Hey, we should take a picture together. We’re both wrestlers. I’ll put it on the internet. Give ya a little rub (McIntyre laughed),’ and people reacted crazy.
