A former WWE Champion no longer desires the World title.
Three-time World Champion Drew McIntyre does not care anymore for the prestigious title. McIntyre last won the title at WrestleMania 40, before Damian Priest cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase to defeat McIntyre.
In pursuit of the title since then, McIntyre last faced Damian Priest and Seth Rollins in his cash-in match at Money In The Bank 2024 PLE in a losing effort. Since then, he was in a heated feud against CM Punk, before switching focus on Jey Uso and Sami Zayn.
In a recent interview with Cameron Hawkins of The Ringer, McIntyre opened up on his past year’s run, before stating that he no longer desires the gold, he was chasing all these years.
I never thought it’d be a point in my career where I said, ‘Currently, I don’t care about the world title. I don’t care about my legacy like I used to, because inevitably, people are just going to forget. I got more of an emotional response from anybody [than] I’ve ever gotten in my entire career, be it on TV, online, to live crowds. It’s been an emotional roller coaster for Drew McIntyre this year, and in the end, that’s what our industry is all about, is making you feel,”
He further shared how people moved on quickly from him after he went on a hiatus after his bloodied match against CM Punk at Bad Blood.
It doesn’t matter if you’re myself or Stone Cold or the Rock when he shows back up or whatever. People just move on. They’re focused on what’s there in front of you. I had to have that epiphany when I was out injured [after Bad Blood]. I was that badly injured, 16 staples on my head, smashed my back on the steps. I had that realization when I was out, like, ‘Man, people really do move on that quick.”
Drew McIntyre is scheduled to face Jey Uso at Raw’s Netflix premiere on 6th January 2025.
