Former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman recently shared an update on his injury status through his Instagram Story.
The Monster Among Men revealed that he has suffered a broken wrist. He posted a photo of his X-ray scan alongside a sarcastic caption that read “YAY ME!!” along with an angry emoji to show his frustration about the injury.

The timing of this injury is particularly challenging for Strowman, who is currently focusing on various business ventures following his second release from WWE earlier this year. The former powerhouse did not provide details about how he sustained the broken wrist, but the X-ray clearly shows the fracture.
The injury comes at a time when the 42-year-old wrestler has been exploring new opportunities outside the wrestling ring and working on building his personal brand. This broken wrist injury adds another layer of complexity to Strowman’s current situation, as he has been dealing with various physical challenges throughout his wrestling career. The former WWE star previously sustained injuries to his groin, neck, and other body parts from his years of intense physical competition.
Why Braun Strowman Was Released From WWE in 2025
Braun Strowman was released from his WWE contract on May 2, 2025, as part of the company’s post-WrestleMania budget cuts. According to reports from Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, the primary reason for his release was financial, with WWE feeling that his high salary was not matching his current usage in storylines.
Strowman was reportedly earning $1.2 million per year on a guaranteed contract, which did not include bonuses from merchandise and other revenue streams. WWE executives believed they were paying him more than his role in the company justified.
Following his release from the company, he featured in a food travel show, “Everything on the Menu with Braun Strowman,” that premieres on USA Network in Fall 2025.

The decision was also influenced by Strowman’s injury history, which had affected his in-ring performance and mobility. Since returning from a severe neck fusion surgery in 2023, sources noted that his physical condition was worse than many realized, impacting his movement and overall ring work.
This marked the second time Strowman was released by WWE, having previously been let go in June 2021 before being rehired in September 2022. His final match took place on the April 18, 2025 episode of SmackDown, where he teamed with LA Knight against Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa.
