Former WWE Announcer Shares Valuable Advice She Received From Michael Cole

Ex-WWE announcer opens up on veteran Michael Cole’s advice.

Last year in October, WWE Raw ring announcer Samantha Irvin shockingly announced her departure from the promotion. One of the most beloved personalities on the roster, Irvin’s exit, broke several hearts.

Bringing forward a new personalized touch to her ring-announcing duties, Irvin is quite vividly known for adding the iconic stretch to Chelsea Green’s entrance. Recently appearing on the Busted Open Radio, Irvin opened up on a piece of valuable advice she once received from commentator Michael Cole.

“Yes, they did. That’s why I thank them so much. That was my opportunity. When I first got to wrestling, everyone was like, ‘What are you doing going to wrestling? You’re a singer, you’re a stage performer.’ This is what I’ve always done. People were very surprised, but for me, I looked at it like, WWE wants me to use my voice. They want me to. There is no catch here. They just let me go. I was so grateful for that.

Michael Cole was my boss when I came up to the main roster. He literally said, ‘Be you. Go out, try it, be you.’ Luckily, most things worked. I credit them very much. They gave me creative freedom to play and have fun. That was like mixing being a professional stage performer and vocalist and being a fan that they never should have let in [laughs]. The over emotion and all that was certainly real and 100% a loss of professionalism in those moments.”

Leaving WWE in October 2024, she also recently revealed how Vince McMahon could have put her in a different role other than just announcing.

Samantha Irvin Believes Vince McMahon Would Have Taken Her Off From WWE Announcing

In the same Busted Open Radio interview, Samantha Irvin opened up about how different her career would have been if Vince McMahon had not been running things in WWE.

“Vince (McMahon) would have taken her off of ring announcing. He would have been like, ‘Put her somewhere else and have her do something else.’ In my head, I always thought that’s what would happen.”
