An ex-WCW star has taken part in his second match in 15 years.
Scotty Riggs is best known for his time as one-half of The American Males tag team alongside Marcus ‘Buff’ Bagwell in WCW. The pair were briefly the promotion’s tag team champions after defeating Harlem Heat in September 1995. The reign was short-lived, as they lost the titles back to Booker T & Stevie Ray only nine days later.
Riggs remained in WCW until 1999 when the promotion released him. He then spent a few months in ECW the following year before joining Dusty Rhodes’ Turnbuckle Championship Wrestling promotion, where he reigned as the Heavyweight Champion three times.
After TCW closed in 2003, Riggs took time away from the ring to deal with personal issues. He returned to the sport in 2007 as part of AWA World-1, and wrestled for two years before officially retiring in 2009.
When QT Marshall relaunched TCW in February 2024, Riggs wrestled on the first event as part of a TCW All-Star team with Marshall, Glacier, and Luther Biggs to defeat Adam Priest, Duncan Mitchell, Owen Knight & Sunny Daze.
Former WCW Star Scotty Riggs Gets Back In The Ring
Now, Riggs has hit the ring again, making a surprise appearance at MLW Battle Riot VI to take part in the eponymous 40-man match. Riggs entered to his American Males theme and clapped his way to the ring before being stopped in his tracks by Minoru Suzuki and eventually eliminated by Golden Globe-winning actor Paul Walter Hauser.
In the end, former WWE star Matt Riddle eliminated Sami Calihan to win this year’s Battle Riot and with it the golden ticket to a future shot at the MLW World Heavyweight Title.
