Former WCW Star Discusses Eddie Guerrero Vs. Shawn Michaels Dream Match

Former WCW star and wrestling veteran Kevin Sullivan spoke about what might have happened in a match between Eddie Guerrero and Shawn Michaels.

The wrestling world has long pondered an epic encounter between Eddie Guerrero and Shawn Michaels. Sadly, this dream match remained unfulfilled as Guerrero tragically passed away in 2005, while Michaels retired in 2010, never crossing paths during Guerrero’s lifetime.

On Tuesdays with the Taskmaster, former WCW Tag Team Champion Kevin Sullivan delved into how he would have orchestrated this hypothetical match, rumoured to have been a possibility at WrestleMania 22 before Guerrero’s passing. Emphasising the need for a clean finish, Sullivan expressed that the magnetic personalities of Guerrero and Michaels alone would have drawn crowds, regardless of the victor.

A clean finish wouldn’t hurt. Just their personalities alone would have drawn money. So, if you toss up who goes over, for a long time, and at the end of this WrestleMania, babyfaces seem to get their come-up when it’s their time. So, I think that, would Eddie have been the babyface then, or would he have been the heel? Who knows? But I thought Eddie was one of the greatest performers of all time, everybody does.

Drawing parallels to a recent dream match, Sullivan highlighted Bryan Danielson Vs. Will Ospreay at AEW Dynasty, a bout that captivated the audience. This comparison led Sullivan to reflect on the potential of a Guerrero-Michaels showdown, musing:

At that time, could there have been a better match? I know you talk about Bryan Danielson and Ospreay. I’m sure that if we had that Eddie, Shawn match, that might have been that match for this generation.

What WWE Tournament Did Former WCW Star Kevin Sullivan Think Was “One Of The Stupidest Ideas Ever?”

The former leader of the WCW faction Dungeon of Doom Kevin Sullivan spoke about WWE’s Brawl for All tournament and labelled it as “one of the stupidest ideas ever.” Sullivan didn’t agree with the idea of having real fights on a show also featuring staged bouts and that no one came out of the tournament looking good.
