The returns of former WWE Superstars to the company don’t look set to die down, as a one-time Universal Champion could be next to make a comeback.
Following Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque taking over WWE creative and talent relations, a number of former WWE and NXT Superstars have returned to the company. Up next could be Adam Scherr, f.k.a Braun Strowman.
Per Fightful Select, internal talks from WWE have discussed the possibility of a return for ‘The Monster Among Men’. WWE sources noted how impressed they were with him for looking “ring ready”. He’s visibly improved his look since leaving the sports entertainment giant, even looking better now than when he was signed.
Strowman was cut from WWE in June 2021 in a round of releases alongside Murphy, Lana, Ruby Riott, Aleister Black, and Santana Garrett. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given his stance on independent wrestling, he’s wrestled very little since, with his indie wrestling views leaving some “rubbed[…]the wrong way”.
At the time of his WWE release, Braun Strowman was nearing the end of his multi-million-dollar contract. He’d reportedly played “hardball” during contract negotiations pre-release, which is perhaps what led to him ultimately being cut.
Since leaving WWE, Strowman – now wrestling as ‘The Titan’ Adam Scherr – has competed just eight times; all but one of those contests have been either against or alongside EC3, with the pair also co-promoting the Control Your Narrative organisation.
Should he return to WWE, he’ll follow in the footsteps of Karrion Kross, Dakota Kai, and Hit Row, among others. In this same update, Fightful confirmed Andrew Zarian’s report of WWE’s interest in JONAH – the former Bronson Reed.
