Former TNA Star’s AEW Debut Plans In Doubt

Former TNA Star To Make Huge Impact With AEW Debut

Former TNA X-Division Champion “Speedball” Mike Bailey looks set to leave a lasting impression in AEW right from the off according to a new report.

After losing the X-Division Championship to Moose on Impact, it was reported by Fightful Select that Bailey had finished up with TNA and was likely AEW-bound very soon. Bailey was also written off TV after being attacked by Trent, which Fightful Select also added would not have been required if Bailey was on his way to WWE.

While Bailey’s in-ring work in TNA and on the independents has already impressed many fans, the former X-Division Champion will look to show the masses what he can do when he becomes All Elite shortly.

As reported by Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Bailey is set to make his debut as part of the 2024 Continental Classic Tournament, which will commence on November 27th.

At the time of writing, the only announced participant for the round-robin tournament is Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada, who previously won the NJPW G1 Climax Tournament 4 times.

Although fans were hoping for the debut of “Speedball” Mike Bailey in the C2, a new report has indicated that plans may not be as straightforward. As reported by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, despite the fact that Bailey has finished up with TNA, he is not yet a free agent as his deal is not up until the end of the year. Bailey is currently able to talk to other companies according to the report.

Because of his contract situation, this means that unless any extenuating circumstances take place, Bailer will not feature in the Continental Classic Tournament in 2024.

Will Ospreay Looks Back On AEW Debut

Making a brief appearance in TNA before committing to AEW full-time, Will Ospreay faced off against Bailey at Bound For Glory 2023 in a critically acclaimed match. With this in mind, many will be hoping that Ospreay will also be featured in the Continental Classic Tournament so he can run back the match with Bailey and add to his list of match-of-the-year contenders.

Celebrating his anniversary with AEW, Will Ospreay thanked the fans for always supporting him.
