Former SmackDown Star Leaving WWE After 6-Year Run

Former WWE SmackDown star Ashante Adonis announce exit

After a six-year run with WWE, a former SmackDown Superstar announced his departure from the company.

Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis initially signed with WWE in 2019, where he began performing in 205 Live, NXT, and eventually on SmackDown with Hit Row. After being released in 2021, he returned in 2022 on the blue brand for a brief run before wrestling in the developmental brand again.

In his most recent NXT run, Ashante played a somewhat of a playboy gimmick and was involved in a romantic storyline with Karmen Petrovic, but their onscreen relationship ended in April. Now, the former Hit Row member’s time with the company has come to an end once again.

In a recent post on X/Twitter, the former WWE SmackDown star (real name Tehuti Miles) announced that his six-year run with the Stamford-based promotion had come to an end. Ashante said that he was grateful for the lessons and experience he was taking away and thanked each person he worked with in the company.

After 6 unforgettable years under the WWE lights, the time has come for me to close that chapter. I’m filled with nothing but gratitude for every opportunity, the experiences, lessons, and incredible talent I’ve had the chance to work with.”

Adonis also expressed excitement for what the future holds for him, stating that after spending a lot of time in multiplayer, he will now have a chance to progress in “story mode.”

I’m truly excited to show the world what I can really do. Sometimes you gotta get off multiplayer and progress your story mode. I believe i’m the face of the future and the reason your girl stopped texting you back.”

Ashante Adonis Says WWE Exit Is A Brand New Beginning

In the same announcement on X/Twitter, the former WWE superstar shared that he viewed the exit as a new beginning and would utilize it to become the best version of himself and unlock his true potential.

This is a brand new beginning. I am becoming the best version of myself. You have only seen a glimpse of my true potential, and im just scratching the surface. I know that to some this can be a dark time, but stars can’t shine without darkness.”

Following the announcement of Ashante Adonis’ WWE exit, Sean Ross Sapp from Fightful shared on X/Twitter that the reason for the departure was due to a contract expiration.
