Former Ring Of Honor Champion Challenges Chris Jericho After Dynamite Comments

Chris Jericho

At the end of Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, Chris Jericho declared himself the greatest ROH champion of all time, and issued an open challenge to all former champions throughout Ring Of Honor’s history. Challenge accepted, because former ROH World Champion Davey Richards now wants a shot at the current title holder.

Now an eight-time world champion, Jericho would take the Ring Of Honor World Championship from Claudio Castagnoli at last week’s AEW Dynamite Grand Slam in New York City. On the most recent Dynamite, Jericho would take out Bandido to retain the title.

Following the match, Chris Jericho made it very clear that he intends on collapsing ROH, saying that he plans on destroying the legacy of the company by going after every former ROH champion, commentator, ring announcer and referee.

Jericho would also issue a challenge to Bryan Danielson as well – the two will be squaring off at AEW Dynamite on October 12. Then to end the show, Jericho floored Ring Of Honor ring announcer Bobby Cruise, celebrating with his ROH title as Dynamite went off of the air.

The fireworks didn’t stop there, however, as a former Ring Of Honor World Champion has already challenged Chris Jericho to a match. Holding the ROH World Title for 321 days combined in both 2011 and 2012, Davey Richards took to Twitter to call out “The Ocho.”

“What do ya say @ringofhonor and @IAmJericho ? Let’s crack open that Forbidden door? #richardsvsjericho”

Having 18 years in professional wrestling, Richards has been involved with Ring Of Honor, IMPACT Wrestling, MLW and NJPW, having a lot of success and winning championships in both the singles and tag team divisions. Richards, along with Eddie Edwards, made up The Wolves.

With the challenge that Chris Jericho handed to Bryan Danielson, the two faced off at AEW All Out in early September, with Jericho grabbing the victory. They would wrestle again at Dynamite Grand Slam later in the month, with Danielson being the victor in the repeat. Now we head to the rubber match in October.
